Travellers quarantine resource kit

An online resource kit with information for travellers about moving food, plant and animal materials into and around South Australia is available.

The kit includes downloadable, ready-made resources that tourism, accommodation and event operators can use when communicating with travellers through their websites, newsletters, venues or booking confirmations and emails.

Help to plan and avoid travelling with pests and diseases

The information included in the resource kit helps travellers to plan their trips to and within South Australia, so pests and diseases don’t travel with them.

Some fruit and vegetables, food and plants cannot be brought into South Australia as they may carry pests or diseases, including fruit fly, that are a risk to our state.

If travellers are caught with fruit and vegetables that are a fruit fly risk, their produce will be seized, and they may be fined.

States and territories have different rules on what food, plant and animal materials can enter, as they have different pest and disease statuses.

Within South Australia, it is also important to understand the special rules for travelling into the Riverland and Kangaroo Island.

The resource kit includes an information brochure for travellers as well as resources for communities, tourism and event operators to display and distribute including a brochure, poster, newsletter articles and key messages.
